Every summer we pack up and go to the beach…my favorite place on earth. Unfortunately, my hubby does NOT love the beach as much as I do. So, this summer we decided to do something a little different- Colorado…here we come! I have never been to Colorado before, so I can’t wait! We are going to try to pack in as much fun as we can over the next 9 days-train rides, hiking, cliff dwellings, golf, shopping, and July 4th festivities with friends! The girls are each keeping a journal of their memories from each day, so I figured I would too…
So here goes…
Well, technically on Day 1 we didn’t go to Colorado. We actually went to New Mexico. But after 14 hours in the car, New Mexico was far enough for me! The girls did really well traveling and Ryan & I were cracking up at their reactions to new sights. I have a feeling this is going to be the best family vacation we’ve ever had.
A few things I learned along the way today:
- My child who I have to drag out of bed for school every morning will get up at 5:30 am on her own to get ready for vacation.
- A flat tire will not ruin our fun. {FYI-the folks at Bacon Chevrolet in Frankston, TX are AMAZING}
- Wind turbines will entertain my children for miles and miles and miles…
- I’m pretty sure our children are deprived…their reaction when they saw a plateau was incredible. I can’t wait to see what they do when they see a mountain for the first time tomorrow!
Tomorrow we will be heading to Durango via a stop off in Albuquerque. Hoping to get lots of great pics along the way!
